Region 7 Director

Served in the U.S. Army, 1956-66. Made a tour in Korea and in Germany twice until I finished my enlistment. Went to NCO academy, and was a Staff Sergeant E -6. I was motor Sergeant for three years.

 

Allen is retired from working with Amoco Production offshore for twenty-four years. Joined VVA in 1992 and became very active. I serve with Chapter 632 as treasurer, vice president for finance. From 1996 to 2000 was elected La. State vice president, served finance chairman, and as a Board Director for the foundation. I sit on the advisory board of the VA hospital in Louisiana until now. I am a member of Incarcerated Chapter 689 of Angola, La. Was elected to the National Board of Directors as Region 7 Director in 1999 until 2015. Serving on the National Finance Committee for the past fourteen years and the Incarcerated Veterans Committee. In the past sixteen years written nine VVA Commendation medal was written in Region 7 and everybody did receive it. That’s working for veterans.

I was awarded the VVA Achievement Medal in 2002 and in VVA 13th National Convention was awarded the Commendation Medal in 2007. Also received two Chapel of Four Chaplains awards.

 

I believe that my past experiences in military and in civilian life have provide me with tools for the leadership VVA.

 

I am married to Norma sixty-one years, and the father of six children, Richard, Anita, Scott, Shelly, Vickie, Tonya.
