When Bob Cook, president of Cumberland, MD, Chapter 172, wanted to help the victims of the recent fires in Tennessee, he called Charlie Hobbs, National Membership Chair and a member of Chattanooga, TN, Chapter 203. Cook wanted to donate $500. The Chattanooga chapter decided to match those funds.
Hobbs called Ron Seals, the sheriff of Sevier County, a supporter of all veterans. The chapter decided it would rather give the money directly to those in need, rather than donate to a general fund. Sheriff Seals said that one of his deputies had lost everything in the fire. Chapter 172 and Chapter 203 donated $1,000 to the Sevier County’s Sheriff Department.
