Gold Star Mothers is an organization of American women who have lost a son or daughter in service to the United States. It is named after the custom of a gold star on a service flag on a home representing a son or daughter lost in war.
The 30-minute ceremony included the presentation of colors, the national anthem, a chaplain’s prayer, and recognition of Gold Star Mothers, as well as speakers, the laying of a wreath, of Taps and singing “God Bless America.”
Following the ceremony, Chapter 944 held a dinner at Hart’s Hill Inn in Whitesboro.
