Delaware County, PA, Chapter 67’s Honor Guard took part in the annual Gold Star Mother’s Day ceremony on Sunday, September 25, at Arlington National Cemetery. George Brown, Jack Mitch, Mike Houlihan, Bill Pyle, and Ray Stankus presented colors at the ceremony, which was held near the Tomb of the Unknowns.
The Chapter Honor Guard entourage included van driver Joe Dubolino, Gold Star Sister Judy Campbell, USO member Michelle Steel, Jeff McCaw, and his granddaughter, Amber. The group made a stop at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial before proceeding to Arlington.
“No words can be said to ease your pain and no ceremony can fill the void you feel,” Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley told the gathering. “None of us can imagine the pain of your loss, but each and every one of you Gold Star mothers exhibit grace and strength, and the U.S. Army and the entire nation is in your debt.”
After the ceremony the Chapter 67 group joined a reception at the nearby Women in Military Service to America Memorial at the invitation of American Gold Star Mothers President Candy Martin.
