Chapter 290 Saves a Parking Spot for the Wounded

Parking Lot

Throughout the city of St. Cloud, MN, Chapter 290 has been installing parking spaces reserved for the combat wounded.

The vibrant parking spaces are coated with purple paint and are for Purple Heart Medal recipients only.

The parking spaces have been set aside at only a handful of businesses, but chapter president Bob Behrens says that ‘Operation LZ Purple’ will continue throughout the next year.

The project will soon expand to Sauk Rapids and Sartell.

The latest locale to receive a bright purple parking spot is the Vietnam War Memorial at Lake George.

The parking spaces were approved by St. Cloud Park and Recreation Board. Member of Chapter 290 power washed and provided the labor for each of the spaces, and donated the signs designating the space reserved for Veterans wounded in combat. The paint was donated by Advanced Auto Parts.
