Veterans recognized Knox County (TN) Mayor Tim Burchett for his service on Thursday.
The Vietnam Veterans of America Bill Robinson Chapter 1078 nominated Burchett for an honorary life membership to the national Vietnam Veterans of America organization, one of only two people to receive the honor in Tennessee, according to an official.
Burchett was selected for the recognition and members of the VVA Bill Robinson Chapter 1078, including Bill Robinson, the longest-held Vietnam War POW still living, who made the presentation at the Knox County Veterans Service office.
The recognition came with a letter from the national president of the Vietnam Veterans group thanking Burchett for his support of veterans. He received a plaque with the recognition.
