Larry Johnson, who served as an Army Special Services entertainment specialist producing shows to entertain the troops in Vietnam in 1972, is putting together a feature film called Ghost Money. The movie will tell the story of the Vietnam War and its legacy through the experience of Johnson’s real-life relationship with a Vietnamese woman.
It’s “about my search for my Vietnamese girlfriend and the child I may have fathered by her, ” Johnson told us. “The film will tell the story of my experiences in ’72 in animation and some of the 8 millimeter film I shot there. My return to Vietnam will be in live action footage.”
Johnson is now in production for the film, which he hopes to release in 2015, the 40th anniversary of the Vietnamese takeover of Vietnam. If you’re interested in learning more, go to the film’s website .
