The Kimball Art Center in Park City, Utah, has two current exhibits—the Veterans’ Art Show and “Soldier Boy, Soldier Girl”—that recognize America’s veterans, past and present. The Veterans’ Art Show, a co-production of the National Ability Center, contains a variety of work from emerging and established veteran artists.
“Soldier Boy, Soldier Girl” contains new photographs by Lynn Blodgett . The exhibit is made up of close-up portraits of two soldiers, a man and a woman, dressed in different uniforms from American wars going back to the Revolutionary War. “Over the last few years, I have photographed many veterans, ” Blodgett says. “The images are powerful and the stories of the lives of these brave people are deeply moving, but the message was too fragmented.”
Both exhibits are free and open to the public. “Solider Boy, Soldier Girl” runs through December 1 and includes a Special Veteran’s Day artist reception on November 15. The Veterans’ Art Show closes on November 19.
