Veterans Against Drugs Task Force REPORT

Just in time for Veterans Day, the Veterans Against Drugs Task Force has completed its latest lesson plan. The qualities of Honesty, Integrity, Compassion, Meaningful Achievement, and Advocacy are all important for young Americans to develop as they grow up in a violent world that includes substance abuse. Many members who have a Veterans Against Drugs program in their communities have requested that we develop a lesson plan on Patriotism. This five-week program is now available and will work side-by-side with our anti-drug and anti-violence programs. The five parts of this presentation are:
- The Flag
- Traditions
- Homeland Security
- The Military and its Role in America
- National Holidays
Chapters and state councils interested in receiving a copy of this program should contact the Veterans Against Drugs Task Force at dsimmons@vva.org We will be happy to provide information on how to start a VAD program in your community and how to add this to your existing program.
Another exciting addition to the Veterans Against Drugs program is L.T. Eagle, who will soon be making his debut. L.T. is an animated character we will use to talk to younger children on how to stay drug-free. We will also feature L.T. in an activity book for programs that work with younger children. This program should be ready in the fall of 2007.
