Region 9 REPORT
Going Strong

DICK SOUTHERN, DIRECTOR
The West is going strong. The State Councils in Region 9 are going and growing. Reports of chapters forming, gathering members, and being chartered are coming in from Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and California. Many of the Region 9 chapters are reporting growth and are working to be among the top 30 chapters in membership in VVA.

By the time that you read this, I will have visited two State Councils and held the first Region 9 meeting of 2008. We plan on having a good meeting with education, fun, and lots of networking among the attendees from six states.

Chapter and State Council elections will be taking place over the next few months. All members in good standing need to be involved in the election process and select those leaders who will move our organization forward. Whether it is voting in your chapter or electing delegates to represent you at a State Convention, each of us needs to be involved in this important process.

I would like to take this opportunity to urge all of the leaders in Region 9 to make plans to attend the VVA Leadership Conference in July in Greenville, South Carolina. This conference has become the place to learn what to do and how to do it in your chapter and State Council to build a membership to help veterans and their families.

Make your plans now to be in attendance at the Leadership Conference as VVA celebrates its first 30 years.
