(Washington, D.C.)--"Vietnam Veterans of America applauds The Home Depot for its upcoming launch of 'Mission: Transition,' a special, one-day event focused on assisting service members and veterans in making a successful transition into the civilian workforce through career counseling workshops," said VVA National President John Rowan.
On Saturday, October 27, Mission: Transition, will be launched at over 100 The Home Depot stores across the nation, in areas with heavy military and veteran populations.
Workshops will emphasize interview skills, job-search strategies, and resume building. Though not a job fair, the goal of the workshops is to arm service men and women with both the knowledge and the resources to navigate a successful transition into a meaningful career.
Participants will hear from The Home Depot's hiring managers and human resources professionals, as well as from former military leaders currently working at Home Depot. More than 35,000 Home Depot veteran associates are volunteering their time to assist with the training.

Said Rowan, "The Home Depot's strong, ongoing commitment to America's military is exemplary. If more major corporations would follow suit, or make a special effort to seek out veterans to join their work force, our country would be stronger for it. This would be a meaningful way to show real appreciation for those who have placed themselves in harm's way in defense of our nation."
