Vietnam Veterans of America to Host Concert in Washington, D.C., in honor of 25th Anniversary of The Vietnam Veterans Memorial
Washington, D.C.) – A true Rock and Roll legend, Mark Farner, formerly of Grand Funk Railroad, will headline a star-studded concert sponsored by Vietnam Veterans of America beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, at the Sylvan Theater on the grounds of the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will follow the VVA-sponsored 25th Anniversary Parade commemorating the dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and continue until 6:00 p.m. The parade will step off at 11:00 a.m. from the National Mall at 7th Street between Jefferson and Madison Drives and will end at the Washington Monument Grounds, where participants will take part in a variety of events, including unit reunions and the concert. The emcee for the concert will be actress and entertainer Chris Noel, who was an Armed Forces Vietnam Network radio DJ during the Vietnam War. “This promises to be a very special concert,” said VVA National President John Rowan, “coming as it does after the largest gathering of Vietnam veterans in the nation’s capital since The Wall was dedicated in 1982. We invite veterans of all wars to join us at the Parade and concert as we honor those who served our nation during the Vietnam War.” Also on the concert bill: The legendary Kingston Trio; Paulette Carlson, the former lead singer for the country and western band Highway 101; Iraq War veteran Alton Miller and the Alton Miller Country Band; the former Dean Martin TV show singers and dancers the Golddiggers and the Ding-a-Lings; in-country roots rock band FNG; VVA member Danny Barnes; the duo, Blue Eyed Soul, and the United We Sing USO troupe.
