John Neuman enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at the age of 17 and volunteered to serve in the Vietnam War. He served for six of his seven years in the military as a flying crew chief on a C-130 Hercules.

After his military service, John Neuman worked in the restaurant management field, retiring at age 43 in 1990 after twenty years as a district manager supervising fifteen restaurants.

He has been an extremely active veterans’ advocate since 1993. John Neuman has served as the secretary, and for four terms as President, of VVA Chapter 392 in Oregon City, Oregon, as well as the VVA Oregon State Council’s executive vice president, vice president, and treasurer. In 2007, he was elected VVA’s Region 8 Director.

He lives with his wife Lynda in Welches, Oregon.
